Double Chins Remedied Using Facial Exercise

When you closely examine your face what is the biggest detraction or the neon light that calls attention to your facial imperfections?  Is that looming chin – the dreaded wattle – tops on your list?

Double chins can occur even when you haven’t gained an ounce but wearing an extra roll of flesh can make you look pounds heavier.

Covering your body when your waist, tummy, arms or hips are expanding is a type of camouflage most girls learn at an early age.  We can wear slimming clothes that detract from the actual challenges of gaining a few pounds; now with spandex undergarments, we can easily hide and disguise bulging waistlines or less than thin thighs.

Just as you see aging in other areas of your face such as hooded eyes, sagging cheeks and folds along your mouth, these are all indications that the once tight muscles hidden beneath your skin are now losing their firmness which results in a look reminiscent of your elder relatives.

It is not that you do not love and cherish Great Aunt Hilda or Grandpa Joe, you just do not want to look like them now.

Facial flaws are a distraction.  They can make us appear older than our years and this saps our confidence whether we are in the dating scene, updating our resume or interacting with others. 

Wearing a double chin cannot be disguised with turtlenecks or scarves.  A double chin cannot be concealed with makeup or other cosmetic preparations.  Double chins are a result of muscle atrophy.  That’s right – muscle atrophy as in no activity.

If the wearer is not overweight what is the remedy? 

Liposuction for a double chin is one choice but spending thousands of dollars for an iffy procedure fraught with risks, bruising, swelling, lumps and bumps and temporary benefits may not seem likely for the discerning person.  In addition you would want to consider that numbness and nerve damage, puckering at the incision site and scar tissue are lingering aspects associated with this procedure.  

Liposuction after all goes after the fat but what if you have very little fat but a lot of sagging or bulging? 

Sculpting a wayward chin with isometric exercise is a safe alternative and the results become noticeable quickly.  Why?  The underside of your chin and into the neck is comprised of a broad, flat muscle called the platysma.  This large muscle acts like any other muscle that is not sufficiently exercised – it droops and sags as it slowly pools into other muscles and easily collects deposits of fat. 

If the area under your chin feels soft, not toned or taut or you see an enlarged mass when you look at your profile, without a doubt, this is the start of a less than youthful look. 

Sadly, over time, the entire face begins to soften and elongate. 

You can prove this to yourself by placing a mirror flat on the table while bending over from the waist looking down into the mirror.  Gaze at yourself for ten seconds to see just how dramatically soft your facial muscles are.  I warn you, it is a scary look that alerts you that your facial features are losing their contour because the muscles that support the skin are no longer in great shape. This atrophy causes the look of old.

Fortunately, atrophy can be reversed and those tiny facial muscles can indeed grow stronger while your skin receives added nutrition from oxygenated blood that is created when you exercise your face.

Facial exercises that shorten, tighten, lift and contour your muscles are not contortions, twists or puckers; rather facial exercise that can help you look five, ten even fifteen years younger are a result of isometric with resistance type contractions. 

Thumbs and fingers and cotton exercise gloves are all that is required for you to take charge of your aging face.  Step-by-step you can begin to expertly manipulate your facial muscles so they respond easily to the movements and in just minutes a day you will feel and see the lifting and contouring.

Your sagging cheeks, droopy eye lids and double chin will show great improvement as the results last longer and longer.  Your face will look and feel toned and tightened, your confidence will soar and before long you will challenge your friends to look in the mirror lying flat on the table.
