Light talks start very easily around the buffet table. After taking food people usually look for a good place to keep and eat the food. So you can hang around them to have a chit chat. Another reason of this tactic’s success is that we are quite excited when we are around food. We are happy and this enhances the memory. Try to find a seat around the people you don’t know sufficient. If the function has a sitting, don’t stick to a friend or a colleague. These people are already with you and you know them. You are here to make new relations not to spend time with older ones. Sit with for sometime but after that find a seat around the people you are going to make a new relation with.
Don’t stay for long time at one place with one person. Don’t take more than ten minutes and leave the place saying, “it was a nice meeting you”. Always go prepared in meetings.
